A helicopter pilot was lucky to escape a crash with only “moderate” injuries today in El Sugundo. The pilot was involved in lifting air conditioning units from a low rise Raytheon office and lab building roof and lost control of the helicopter. The cause of the crash, which occurred at 9:30am is still not known.

The helicopter pilot was rescued by spotters on the ground that work for the helicopter company. They managed to free the pilot from the burning wreckage before it completely burst into flames. The Raytheon building also caught on fire by the helicopter fire but due the weekend and the size of the building, no one was injured.
