Randy Savage Dies: Another Wrestling Great Gone

Randy Savage, a famous wrestler who was known for his flamboyant outfits and marriage in the ring to Ms. Elizabeth, has died in a car crash in Tampa, Florida today. According to reports he suffered a heart attack while driving his 2009 Jeep Wrangler. His car went across lanes of oncoming traffic before his car crashed head on with a tree. He died at a local hospital later. At the time of his death Randy Savage was 58 years old.

Randy Savage, who was divorced from Ms. Elizabeth in 1992, was in the car with his current wife Lynn who he married in May 2010. She was in the passenger seat and managed to escape with minor injuries. Both the driver and passenger were wearing seat belts and alcohol was not a contributing factor.

Randy Savage was from Columbus, Ohio and held twenty championships during his career. In addition he was also a seven-time world champion. He began his wrestling career in 1985, retiring in 2005. Randy Savage will be remembered for his deep raspy voice, bandana or head band, sunglasses, cowboy hat and flashy robes. Of course who could forget his signature catch phrase….Ooooh Yeah!

He is also known for the memorable ads for Slim Jim and in the 2002 Spiderman, he played a wrestler.

I remember seeing him several times in the ring and on television. He made wrestling fun to watch. And with the beautiful Ms. Elizabeth by his side, they made a great wrestling couple both in and out of the ring. Let the bell toll ten times for another great wrestler that has passed on. Rest in Peace Randy Savage.
