Plastic Portable Pools Can Be Deadly

There are many people who have the misconception that those small plastic pools that they have in their yard for their children to play in during the summer months are not deadly but unfortunately they can be. According to a study every five days during the hot summer months a child will die in one of those plastic portable pools. According to the study, from 2001 to 2009, there were thirty five near drownings and two hundred nine deaths of children under the age of twelve. In addition ninety four percent were under the age of five.

There are some parents who see these plastic pools as a summer time babysitter. All you have to do is inflate the pool, fill it with water, and instant playground for the children because most children love to play in the water. They do not think about the safety aspect of the whole deal. These pools range in depth from eighteen inches to approximately four feet.

The study showed that less than forty three percent of these children were supervised. A child, no matter what the age, could accidentally slip on the slippery plastic bottom, fall, hit their head and land face down in the water. With no supervision, this child could very possible die before anyone found them.

Supervise your child when they are in these plastic pools and do not let them become another drowning or near drowning statistic.
