Lady Gaga Songs Are Banned In China

Lady Gaga fans who wants to hear the songs of their idol in China, better kiss your dream goodbye. This developed after the Chinese cultural ministry has ruled to ban websites playing songs of Lady Gaga in China. The Chinese government made the ruling since it perceive the songs to harm the security of state culture.

Among the Gaga songs banned in China are “The Edge of Glory”, “Hair”, “Marry the Night” and “Bloody Mary”. Although there is no official reason why the Gaga are prohibited in China, it is believed that part of the reason is that it is politically sensitive or offensive. Aside from Lady Gaga songs from the Backstreet Boys and other artists are also banned in China.

Gaga became popular around the world after the release of her debut studio album The Fame (2008), which was a critical and commercial success and achieved international popularity with the singles “Just Dance” and “Poker Face”. The same album also reached number one on the record charts of six countries, topped the Billboard Dance/Electronic Albums chart while simultaneously peaking at number two on the Billboard 200 chart in the United States and accomplished positions within the top ten worldwide.
