Passenger Bus Collision Kills 19 In Indonesia

Nineteen people were reported killed and five others badly injured when a minivan and a passenger bus collided in central Indonesia on Monday. Indonesian police authorities said the accident occurred in the village of Balongmojo in East Java province when the minivan tried to pass another car on a blind corner. Authorities said due to the incident, the van hit an incoming bus.

Due to the strong impact of the collision both drivers of the vehicle died along with 17 of their passengers. According to reports, poor safety standards are main causes of many fatal transportation accidents in Indonesia, an archipelago of more than 17,000 islands.East Java is a province of Indonesia.

It is located on the eastern part of the island of Java and includes neighboring Madura and islands to its east (the Kangean and Sapudi groups) and to its north (Bawean and the Masalembu Islands). T he provincial capital is Surabaya, thesecond largest city in Indonesia and a major industrial center and port.
