The quest of United States President Barrack Obama to get re-elected in the 2012 presidential election is now becoming even more difficult. According to the latest Washington Post – ABC news poll, Obama is also losing support among his ardent supporters the African Americans. Based on the latest result from the poll, only 58 percent of African Americans held “strongly favorable” views of Obama, the first African-American president in the history of the United States.
The latest figure is a huge drop since the previous survey had shown that 83 percent of black Americans had favorable views on Obama. Political analysts said the decline of support is due to high unemployment rate among black Americans and the way the president handle the ailing economy. The latest figure show that the unemployment rate for African Americans hit 16 percent this summer, the highest rate since 1984. Analysts said if Obama wants to get reelected for the second term, he needs to work harder in getting back his losing support from the black Americans.
