Italy Wants Kobe Bryant If NBA Lockout Continues

An Italian basketball club has expressed intentions to sign Los Angeles Lakers superstar guard Kobe “Black Mamba” Bryant on its roster if the National Basketball Association lockout will not be resolved soon.  According to reports, Italian basketball club Virtus Bologna has offered Kobe Bryant a €5 million ($6.72 million) one-season contract during the NBA lockout.

Based on the proposal if Bryant accepts the deal he can immediately return to the NBA if the lockout ends. Virtus Bologna wants to sign Bryant since the latter spent part of his childhood in Italy and is considered one of the top professional basketball players in the world today.The team is one of the top clubs in the Italian professional basketball league, it has won 15 Italian league titles but none since 2001, when it also won the Euroleague for the second time.

The ball-club hoped Bryant will accept the deal and play for them this year. Aside from the Italian ball club, Turkish club Besiktas an d at least one team in China have also expressed interest in the 33-year-old Bryant, who has won five NBA championships and been an All-Star 13 times. This early, Bryant already said that there is a strong possibility of playing outside of the US if the lockout can not be solved this year.
