Fox Network has Renewed The SimpsonsIt has been announced on Friday that the animated series “The Simpsons” have been renewed for 2 more seasons. This is the longest running scripted series on at nighttime. It was reported that the show could not continue without cutting costs and the cuts were targeted at the salaries of the voice actors who makes approximated eight million dollars a year. The producers were demanding that these actors take a forty-five percent reduction in pay but the terms of the new deal were not released. An unidentified reporting source said that the voice actors accepted a thirty percent pay cut in the four hundred forty thousand dollars that they had received for each of the previous twenty-two episodes per season.

The actors were willing to accept a seventy percent pay cut but for taking that much of a pay cut they wanted a small share of the billions of dollars in profit that the show got through marketing and syndication. The shows creators do have profit participation but the voice actors have be denied the efforts to join them.

So for all of you fans out there you are going to have two more seasons to enjoy of The Simpsons. After seasons 24 and 25, it will go back to the bargaining table for more negotiations or it will be put on the shelf like so many other great shows.
