The race for the presidential nomination in the Republican party for the 2012 United States presidential election is getting tighter. In the latest poll conducted by media giant CNN Republican front runner Mitt Romney is virtually tied with fast rising Herman Cain. Based on the result of the poll conducted by CNN, Romney leads by just a point 26 percent to 25 percent against Cain with a margin of error of three percent.
The strong showing of Cain is reportedly a huge 14-point jump since the last poll taken three weeks ago. Taking the third place in the poll is Rick Perry with 13 percent, followed by Ron Paul (9 percent), Newt Gingrich (8 percent), Michele Bachmann (6 percent), Rick Santorum (2 percent) and Jon Huntsman (1 percent). Political experts said now that Cain is gaining ground in his political campaign, Romney and the rest of the Republican presidential hopefuls need to work harder.
The experts said if the popularity of Cain will continue to rise among the Republican voters chances are he will get t he nomination of the party for next year’s presidential election. Internet data revealed that Cain is a former chairman and CEO of Godfather’s Pizza and a former chairman (Omaha Branch board 1989–91), deputy chairman (1992–94) and chairman (1995–96) of the board of directors of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City.
