The Libyan capital Tripoli are now in party mood after reports surfaced that deposed Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi is already dead. According to reports, Libyan rebels who overthrow Gadhafi killed him during the assault in the town of Sirte, the birthplace of the dictator and the last stronghold of his supporters. The National Transition Council in Libya said rebels found Gadhafi and killed him during the exchange of fire.
The Libyan rebels also revealed that they have finally taken Sirte after weeks of intense of fighting. It can be recalled that Gadhafi had been running away after the rebels have taken Tripoli and NATO bombers continue to bomb his hiding place within Libya. Before his death, Gadhafi, 69, was considered the most wanted man in the world after the death of terrorist leader Osama bin Laden in Pakistan.
During his long regime, Gadhafi was tagged as the “mad dog of the Middle East.” This developed after Gadhafi reportedly backed the 1986 bombing of a Berlin disco popular with American soldiers, reportedly funding the hijacking of the cruise ship Achille Lauro in 1985, and the 1988 bombing of Pan Am Flight 103, which resulted in the U.N. and United States imposing sanctions on Libya.
President Obama just broke in to tv shows across all networks with an announcement about the capture and death of Gadhafi, and the benefits to the Libyan people, from the Rose Garden at the White House.
