Fans of R&B superstar Rihanna in Malmo, Sweden were disappointed after their idol cancelled her supposed show in the area. According to reports, Rihanna suffered a severe flu attack that forced her to cancel her show. The sickness reportedly caused Rihanna to be hospitalized on Monday night.
In a statement, Rihanna expressed sadness over the cancellation of her show saying she wanted to perform but her body condition would just not allow it. To show that she indeed has a flu, the singer even tweeted a picture of her arm embedded with an IV tube, with the caption “Sorry Malmo!” The show is part of the fourth concert tour of the 23-year-old Barbadian singer in Europe. The tour started in Baltimore in June and expected to end in London on December. Rihanna has sold more than 20 million albums and 60 million singles which makes her one of the best selling artists of all time.
She is the youngest artist in Billboard charts history to achieve ten number-one singles on the Hot 100. As of March 2010, Rihanna has sold approximately 7.3 million album units and over 33.7 million digital singles in the United States. Billboard named Rihanna the Digital Songs Artist of the 2000s decade,and ranked her as the 17th Artist of the 2000’s decade.
Rihanna is still scheduled to perform in the following European cities in the coming weeks:
Zurich, Switzerland at the Hallenstadion – Zurich November 7 and December 10, 2011
