The 2011 Marine Corps Ball was made much more exciting this year with the presence of singer/actor Justin Timberlake. According to reports, Timberlake did indeed attended the annual event held at Richmond, VA, on Saturday night as escort and date of Corporal Kelsey De Santis. Reliable sources who attended the event said the soldiers were very happy with the appearance of the “In Time” actor.
Justin Timberlake said on his blog that he was very happy and honored with the chance to attend the event as he mingled with the soldiers in the event. The singer/actor’s presence in the event is the fulfillment of an earlier promised he made in July that he will attend the event after accepted the invitation from Santis through the social networking video site Youtube. Timberlake started to gain global recognition after appearing as a contestant on Star Search, and went on to star in the Disney Channel television series The New Mickey Mouse Club, where he met future band-mate JC Chasez.
He became a household name around the world in the late late 1990s as the lead singer of the boy band ‘N Sync, whose launch was financed by Lou Pearlman. In 2002, he released his debut solo album, Justified, which sold more than 7 million copies worldwide. The album was a commercial success, spawning the hits “Cry Me a River” and “Rock Your Body”.
Timberlake has won six Grammy Awards and four Emmy Awards. His first two albums made him one of the most commercially successful singers in the world, each selling in excess of 7 million copies. He also has an acting career, having starred in films such as The Social Network, Bad Teacher and Friends with Benefits.
