EU Call For Stronger Antibiotics To Fight Bacteria In Europe

EU Call For Stronger Antibiotics To Fight Bacteria In EuropeThe European Union has called on its 27-member nations in Europe to create  better and stronger antibiotics to battle bacteria. This developed after the latest medical data has shown that some 25,000 Europeans are dying each year due to infections because of drug-resistant bacteria.  European health commissioner John Dalli said countries in Europe need to bond together on this situation before time runs out for them.

According to reports, the so called antimicrobials include antibiotics and can also be used as disinfectants and antiseptics. Recent information from the European Centre for D isease Prevention and Control has shown that some bacteria were able to resist pathogens which often cause pneumonia and urinary tract infections in hospitals. Moreover, it was learned that EU already has a five-year plan to stop the risk of antimicrobial resistance, also known as AMR.

The so called resistant bacteria can be transferred from animals to humans in the food chain. Antibiotics are powerful medicines that fight bacterial infections. Used properly, antibiotics can save lives. They either kill bacteria or keep them from reproducing. Your body’s natural defenses can usually take it from there.
