A case for murder is now being readied against two men for allegedly kidnapping and killing a seven-year-old girl in Central India in what appears to be a human sacrifice ritual. The Indian police said the two men who work as farmers abducted Lalita Tati, then cut her liver as a form of sacrifice to appease their gods for a better harvest.
Rajendra Narayan Das, a senior police officer in the Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh state, revealed Tati was walking home after watching television from a neighbor’s house when she was abducted and killed by the suspects. Police investigators later arrested the two suspects who both admitted to the gruesome killing.
Acco rding to reports, the two suspects could suffer life imprisonment or death if found guilty to their pending capital offence. It was learned that human sacrifice is a common belief in rural areas in India especially to people who has belief on traditional healers, or witch doctors.
