The family of the singer decided to hold the funeral in private to allow them to mourn in private the passing of the 48-year-old singer. It can be recalled that Houston was found dead inside her hotel room in Beverly Hills, California, some hour before she was expected to perform at a pre-Grammy Awards party. Police officials said the singer was found underwater and seemingly unconscious when she was pulled from a bathtub.
According to reports, Houston began singing as a child at the New Hope Baptist Church, where her mother, Grammy-winning gospel singer Cissy Houston,&n bsp;
led the music program for many years. It was learned that her equally famous cousin Dionne Warwick also sang in its choir. Considered as one of the great voices in America, the death of Houston had been mourned by many people around the world.
