Dogs are indeed man’s best friend. A recent medical study has shown that having dogs is very beneficial to pregnant women.
According to the research conducted by the University of Liverpool in the U.K., pregnant women who own a dog are 50 percent more likely to do a 30-minute exercise everyday. The researchers said having dogs compel pregnant women to do some brisk walking not only to themselves but for the sake of their pets as well. Dr. Carri Westgarth, from the university’s Institute of Infection and Global Health, said pregnant women who do any form of exercise could improve their health and keep them away from obesity.
Westgarth and her team added to avoid obesity and have a better health, pregnant women can also do other forms of exercise aside from brisk walking like hiking or swimming. Walking outside the house of their master is one of the favorite activity of dogs since it gives them fresh air and time to interact with people outside their master’s house.
