One student was reported killed and four others badly injured when a lone student opened fire at Chardon High School in Ohio on Monday morning. According to reports, the gunman opened fire at the school cafeteria killing the student and injuring four others in the process.
Sources said most of the students were eating their breakfast when the deadly shooting transpired. The gunman who also happen to be a student of the said school, initially fled the scene but later surrendered to a passerby. The young suspect is now in the custody of the Geauga County Safety Center for interrogation and further investigation on the case.
School Superintendent Jospeh Bergant expressed sadness on the incident but he assured the parents that the school will dig deeper into the incident and strengthen the further the security of the school to avoid the repeat of a similar incident. Bergant added the wounded victims are now undergoing proper medical care for them to survive their harrowing ordeal. Both parents and students were very shocked on the incident. Chardon is a village in Geauga County, about 35 miles east of Cleveland, Ohio.
