16 Yo Arrested

A 16-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of murder, and police are looking into what happened.

The head of the North East Command Unit, Chief Superintendent Simon Crick, said: “My thoughts are with the person who died and their family and friends right now.

“When things like this happen, they send shockwaves through our communities, and I don’t think it will have a small effect in the area and beyond.”

“Your officers will be on patrol in the area over the Easter holiday. If you have any worries, please talk to them.”

The police said there is still a crime scene with safety cordons around it.

Detective Chief Inspector Joanna Yorke of the Met’s specialist crime command said, “We are just starting our investigation, and we want to hear from anyone who knows something but hasn’t told us yet.”

“I know how this will affect the local community, and I want to repeat Chief Superintendent Crick’s advice that anyone with concerns should talk to local officers.”
