Orangeburg County officials say a 15-year-old boy was shot and killed at a business in Midlands on Sunday.

The coroner’s office says that the shooting took place at the Southern Lodge Hotel. That is on U.S. 601/St. Matthews Road, near Interstate 26’s Exit 145, in an area of Orangeburg with a lot of hotels and restaurants.

The Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office said that at about noon, deputies went to the hotel after hearing that someone had been shot there.

The sheriff’s office says that deputies found that Dowling had been shot.

There were no other injuries.

No information was available about who fired the shots or why. There was no information about why Dowling was at the hotel.

The sheriff’s office, which is looking into the shooting, has not said that anyone has been arrested.

The coroner’s office says that an autopsy will be done on Thursday.

Sheriff Leroy Ravenell said in a press release, “This investigation is still in its early stages, and we are just starting to figure out what happened.” “We’re still trying to talk to everyone who might know something.”
