According to the Fort Walton Beach Police Department, a 2-year-old boy was taken to the hospital after officers found him locked alone in a room full of feces and bugs.
Police have said that the boy’s injuries are not life-threatening, but they have not said how he is doing.
Investigators say the child was found on April 22 when cops were told that “a 2-year-old child was left alone in a house.”
“Officers saw the teen through the front window of the house. He was slapping the window and looked dirty, with a lot of flies on him,” police said in a news statement.
“Officers went into the house, checked on the child, and then called EMS right away.” Officers saw that there was feces on the walls, piles of dirty diapers, and a lot of insects in the room where the child was. The bedroom door was locked from the outside of the room.”
