People hear about it through word of mouth and every year, dozens of people are arrested and taken to the hospital. During the event, people stay in their Jeeps and go to the beach to have fun. Most of the time, there is a lot of drink.
The Galveston County Sheriff’s Office says that more than 200 charges were made and 233 people were arrested on Saturday.
On the same day, more than 50 people were rushed to the hospital, and one woman was in very bad shape.

Compared to past years, more people were arrested and hurt.
Galveston County’s records show that 100 people were arrested during Jeep Weekend in 2022. In 2021, there were 200 charges and one death.
In 2020, two people were shot, and more than 100 people were arrested. In 2019, one person died.
The sheriff’s office said that the number of detectives patrolling the area has doubled this year. On Saturday, 136 police officers were at work.

On Sunday, people are likely to take part in Jeep Weekend again. The sheriff’s office said they are checking on people to make sure they are safe. Deputies are patrolling the beach and neighborhoods to make sure that no one breaks into their neighbors’ houses.
