4 Injured in Mississippi Restaurant Shooting

On Friday, someone was shot and killed in a restaurant in Mississippi, and at least four other people were hurt.

The Sun Herald, a newspaper in Mississippi, said that Ocean Springs Police Chief Mark Dunston said that a shooter started the fire at a Cinco de Mayo party at The Scratch Kitchen & Bar, hitting at least five people.

Chase Harmon, who was 19 years old, was the person who died.

The tweet below verifies the news:

Brittany Alexander, who owns the restaurant, told the news source that she was at the party’s entrance when shots were fired. She was told by staff that the shooter got past security without being patted down or having his driver’s license checked. Before she could get to him, he started shooting.

She said that people over 21 were the only ones who could go to the party on the patio. Security checked the IDs of everyone who came in, and people over 21 were given an armband to prove it.

Alexander said that there were about 200 people in the restaurant at the time of the shooting.

The Herald said that a 22-year-old guy was shot in the leg in the restaurant’s parking lot last month. Police have said that the shooting might have been an accident.

Mobile, Alabama, The police department told Fox affiliate WALA that they have no suspects and are asking anyone with knowledge to call them. The department said that the people who were still alive had been taken to a hospital.

The Hill has gotten in touch with Dunston to find out more.
