Authorities say that a 6-year-old girl and a man were both hurt in a shooting at an apartment in Chicago’s Woodlawn neighborhood on Saturday night.
At 5:08 p.m., a shooting happened in an apartment on the 6600 block of South Drexel, close to 67th Street. Police say that the 6-year-old girl and the 33-year-old guy were in a house with two people they knew when one of them pulled out a handgun and fired shots. Authorities say that the girl was hit in the arm and taken to Comer Children’s Hospital in good shape.
The man was shot in the back, and he was taken to a hospital nearby. Police said they don’t know how he is doing. Multiple police officers stayed at the scene for hours afterward, as seen on video, and they seemed to be focusing on a single apartment that was partly blocked off by crime scene tape.
The shooting is the second time on Saturday that a child was hurt by a gun. A 3-year-old boy was shot in the face at a home in the city’s Calumet Heights neighborhood less than two hours ago.
Chicago cops are still looking into both of these events.
