8 Men Detained for Selling Laughing Gas Balloons

According to a news statement from the Austin Police Department, eight men were arrested for selling nitrous oxide, also known as “laughing gas,” near the ACL Live at the Moody Theatre.

At about 11:40 p.m. on Wednesday, police were called to 310 W. 2nd St. because of reports of illegal behavior there. The news statement said that when the police arrived, they found a group of suspects in two different cars. The cars were stopped on the 300 block of 2nd St. and at the corner of 3rd St. and Lavaca.

According to the news release, the suspects waited until the show was over before approaching customers to “illegally sell balloons filled with Nitrous Oxide.”

The cops arrested eight people and took away two guns, 13 tanks of nitrous oxide, and hundreds of balloons.

The men were arrested for having paraphernalia for inhalants with the plan to sell them. Everyone who was caught was an adult.
