A 17-year-old Was Jailed After Kicking An Elderly Asian Woman On A San Francisco Muni Bus

In connection with the vicious assault on an elderly Asian woman on a San Francisco Muni bus last month, a 17-year-old guy has been detained.

The assault started as soon as the victim boarded the 38 bus at Geary and Laguna on her way to work, and it was caught on camera.

“I need to scan my Clipper before getting on the bus. When I saw him standing up, he gave me a foot kick. In the stomach,” the unnamed Indonesian victim told ABC7 News following the assault.

The 79-year-old reportedly fell to the ground after hitting her head on a railing. She was taken by ambulance to the hospital for non-life-threatening medical treatment.

Her attacker was able to flee on foot. A 17-year-old guy was apprehended on Monday, but it later turned out that he was already being held in detention in Contra Costa County for another offense.

Due to his young age, the teenager has not been named. On December 29, 2022, he was brought to the San Francisco Juvenile Justice Center. He was detained on suspicion of elder abuse and serious violence.

Despite the fact that the adolescent has been found, the matter is still being investigated. It is strongly advised that anyone with information phone 1-415-575-4444 or text TIP411 with the subject “SFPD.”
