A 2-year-old Boy Kills Himself With a Gun in His South Arlington Home

Officials say that a 2-year-old boy was killed early Tuesday morning in his south Arlington home when he accidentally shot his brother with his gun.

Around 12:30 a.m., a call about shots fired sent police to the 5300 block of Pocassett Drive. They found a woman holding her son, police said. The child had a gunshot wound, and investigators believe he accidentally shot himself with a gun he found in a teenage sibling’s room.

The child died at a local hospital. He was named Rio Carrington by the Tarrant Medical Examiner’s Office.

The tweet below verifies the news:

Police said that no criminal charges have been filed yet, and the investigation is still going on.

This was the second time in the last week that a toddler was accidentally shot in Tarrant County.

Police say that on March 29, a 2-year-old girl shot herself in the chest at her home in Fort Worth. She was hurt very badly. In the 2600 block of Aiken Lane, that shooting took place. The girl’s mother told the police that she thought her daughter took a gun out of an open drawer and shot herself by accident. No criminal charges have been announced in the Fort Worth case.
