Thursday night in Shreveport, a child was shot. What you need to know is listed below.

The Shreveport Police Department was called to the 700 block of West 62nd Street just before 7:30 p.m. because someone had shot someone.

Officers found a 6-year-old boy who had been shot in the upper body, according to the cops. The child was taken to a nearby hospital because her injuries were so bad that she could die.

Detectives learned from their first investigation that the child was playing outside her house when several people started shooting. The people quickly left the scene.

“This shooting is a senseless act of violence that hurt an innocent child,” the Shreveport Police Department said in a statement. We ask everyone in our community to take action to bring these criminals to justice.
