Who Was Alan Thicke?
Before his untimely death in 2008, Canadian actor, singer, and talk show host Alan Thicke had amassed a fortune of $40 million. In addition to his role as Dr. Jason Seaver on the 1980s sitcom “Growing Pains,” he found success as a theme songwriter and a real estate investor.
The belief goes that Alan made more money from theme songs than from performing. Songs for “Diff’rent Strokes,” “The Facts of Life,” and the original “Wheel of Fortune” were all composed and produced by Alan.
Another thing that makes Alan famous is that he is the father of singer Robin Thicke.
In the 1980s, Thicke hosted a successful chat show in Canada under the title The Alan Thicke Show and was also signed to host a syndicated late-night talk show in the United States under the name Thicke of the Night, which unfortunately did not last very long.

Alan Thicke Cause Of Death
On the night of December 13th, 2016, Thicke fainted while playing ice hockey with his son Carter at Pickwick Gardens in Burbank, California. The rink manager claimed he was able to communicate with paramedics and even joked to his son to snap a selfie as he was being carried out on a stretcher.
At the Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center in Burbank, Thicke passed away later that day from a type-A aortic dissection. He was 69. On December 19, 2016, Leonardo DiCaprio and the rest of the cast of Growing Pains returned to attend Alan Thicke’s burial.
His buddy Bob Saget delivered the eulogy, while Thicke’s son, Robin, provided a hilarious memory.
Santa Barbara, California’s Santa Barbara Cemetery is where his body was laid to rest. Let’s have a quick overview of the health issue Alan Thicke died of.
What Is Type-A Aortic Dissection?
Aortic dissection is a life-threatening disorder caused by a rupture in the aortic wall (aorta). The inner and middle layers of the aorta separate as blood flow through the rupture (dissect). Aortic dissection can be fatal if blood leaks out of the ruptured area and onto the surrounding tissue.
Aortic dissections are unusual yet possible. Men in their 60s and 70s tend to be affected the most. Oftentimes, a diagnosis of aortic dissection is delayed because its symptoms are similar to those of other disorders.
Aortic dissection is fatal if left untreated, however, survival rates dramatically increase with early diagnosis and treatment.
Symptoms of an aortic dissection may be similar to those of other heart issues, such as a heart attack. Some of the common symptoms are:
- Pain in the chest or upper back that comes on suddenly and travels to the neck or lower back,
- sometimes with a tearing or ripping sensation is called “acute coronary syndrome.”
- Sharp, stabbing pain in the abdomen
- Consciousness lapse
- Stroke-like symptoms, such as sudden vision loss, trouble speaking, and weakness or loss of movement (paralysis) on one side of your body; shortness of breath
- Differences in pulse strength between the two arms or legs
- Weakness in the legs
- Challenges in locomotion
What Was Alan Thicke Warned About Just Months Before a Fatal Heart Attack
Alan Thicke’s widow Tanya Callau says blood pressure and heart health issues weren’t “something that the physicians would have been looking at” before his sudden death at 69.
Alan Thicke received a dire heart warning months before his death.
The late Growing Pains star died Dec. 13 at 69 after fainting while playing hockey with his youngest son, Carter. According to PEOPLE’s death certificate, he died of a “ruptured aorta” and a “typical type A aortic dissection.”
The actor and his wife Tanya (Callau) Thicke filmed an episode of Hollywood Medium with Tyler Henry before his death, which will air Wednesday. In an E! News preview, Henry and Tanya see Tyler’s reading with Alan, in which he warned the actor about his heart months before his death.
“Remember this… I’ll discuss family health “Alan hears Henry say. “It’s good to think about blood pressure for your family’s men.”
“From a family and gene standpoint, it’s feasible that numerous men in your family end up at a later age dealing with blood pressure issues, but also deal with either a heart murmur or heart arrhythmia,” he says. “I have to go to heart, which connects with blood pressure.”
“Remember that. Some people came through and acknowledged passing like, “Henry. “It’s essentially saying, ‘Keep your own heart.'”
Alan receives a message to “be proactive” about his health.
Tanya, who married Alan in 2005, said E! News that Henry realized Alan’s heart was failing.
“He tapped on the heart and kind of kept reinforcing that—my husband went in for a thorough exam two months later, and he had a clean health bill,” she added. “Alan had a huge heart attack—an aorta. No family history indicated it was hereditary. Doctors weren’t looking for it.”
She stated they were expecting a child.
“Because we were planning on having a baby, Alan went in for a full physical to make sure he was healthy and ready to do the sperm thing. The timing was unbelievable, “remarked.
“In your reading, Alan asked Tyler, “Do you see children?” This is revealed in the episode. Tyler said “No.” “continued. “I kept asking Alan, ‘Isn’t it funny Tyler didn’t see that?'”
Tanya is suing Brennan and Robin Thicke, Alan’s oldest sons. Last Monday, the two filed a case against her, stating in documents obtained by PEOPLE that she now claims the prenuptial agreement she signed before marrying the star is unlawful.
Tanya’s attorney Adam F. Streisand told PEOPLE, Tanya “has never claimed the prenup is invalid and has no intention of ever claiming it.”
Streisand told PEOPLE that Tanya Thicke has never threatened to make private family affairs public. “Alan’s sons have used tabloid media, a phony lawsuit, and refusal to mediate to harass Tanya. Tanya wants to handle her sons’ lies quietly out of respect for Alan’s memory.”
