Anna Nicole Smith: You Don’t Know Me is the latest documentary on Netflix, and it’s sure to be the most popular this week. It’s about the life of the late model and actor and what led to her early death. The woman from Texas was only 39 when she was found dead in a hotel bed in Florida. Let’s find out what was Anna Nicole Smith’s Net Worth at the time of her death.
What Was Anna Nicole Smith’s Net Worth?
Anna Nicole Smith was an American model, actress, and TV star. At the time of her death, she was worth $1 million. Anna Nicole Smith became well-known after she was named Playmate of the Year in 1993. She became even more famous as a reality TV star and a model for H&M, Lane Bryant, and Guess Jeans, among others.
Anna Nicole was married to J. Howard Marshall II, a billionaire from Texas, for 14 months between 1994 and 1995, until he died at the age of 90. Marshall was worth $1.6 billion when he died because he owned 16% of Koch Industries. It would be worth about $16 billion today.

After Marshall died, Anna was soon in a case with E. Pierce Marshall, who had been her stepson. J. Howard’s will said that E. Pierce would get all of his property. Anna and another boy named J. Howard II was specifically left out of the will.
Anna said that J. Howard had told her over the phone that she would get half of his wealth. Anna and J. Howard III both tried to change the family’s trust and will. A Texas state court ruled against them after they fought in court for six months.
Anna filed for bankruptcy in California in 1996. She kept trying to change the decision of the Texas court, and in 2000, a California bankruptcy court decided against E. Pierce and gave Anna $475 million.
The tweet below explains how Anna Nicole Smith never got any money when her 90-year-old billionaire husband:
In 2001, Pierce filed an appeal, and at first, he was able to get the previous decision overturned. In March 2002, a district court ruled in Anna’s favor and said she was entitled to half of their joint property, which would have been any increase in the value of assets during the marriage.
This court threw out the $475 million ruling and said that Anna should get $88 million instead.
Pierce took the case to Texas’ Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, which found that Pierce was NOT one of Marshall’s heirs and overturned the $88 million judgment.
Anna took her case all the way to the highest court in the United States. On May 1, 2006, the Supreme Court decided in Smith’s favor, basically saying that the Ninth Circuit’s decision was wrong and that she could go back to the Ninth Circuit to keep pursuing the case.
In March 2010, that earlier court ruled for good that Anna’s bankruptcy court claim was false and that she was not entitled to any of J. Howard Marshall’s estate. This was mostly because the bankruptcy court that first ruled in Anna’s favor did not have the power in Texas to make such an award in a case where the probate had already been settled.
E. Pierce Marshall died on June 20, 2006, from septic shock. He was 67 years old. His wife, Elaine Marshall, and their two children got his fortune.
Anna passed away on February 8, 2007. She was 39 years old. In her will, all of her property went to her son Daniel. Daniel had been 20 years old when he died from an accidental drug overdose six months before.
When Smith died, she left behind $1.8 million worth of real estate with a $1.1 million debt. Her next of kin was a daughter called Danielynn, who was born three days before her older brother Daniel died in 2006.
Howard K. Stern, who used to be Anna’s lawyer, kept fighting for Danielynn in court by making a second plea to the US Supreme Court. He said at first that he was the girl’s father, but that turned out to be false. Larry Birkhead came forward and said that he was Danielynn’s dad. After 15 years of legal battles, all of Anna’s claims and earlier rulings were overturned in favor of the Marshall family.
