California Lottery Player Who Was Formerly Homeless Wins $5 Million

A once-homeless woman from California visited a Walmart Supercenter to get her oil changed. Her fortunes and life also altered when she scratched a lottery ticket worth millions. The California Lottery reported on Wednesday that Lucia Forseth, who purchased her ticket at the shop in Pittsburg, some 40 miles east of San Francisco, won $5 million in a Scratchers game.

Forseth claimed that after choosing a ticket, she closed her eyes. She opened them to discover that she had suddenly become rich. According to Forseth, “You never think you have a chance to win it,” the California Lottery stated in a press statement. “It’s just arbitrary,

Forseth initially believed she had just purchased another winning ticket. “But I checked, and it said I won $5 million!” she exclaimed. She becomes California’s third Scratchers winner of the year with her 2023 triumph. There are still two $5 million tickets available.

The California Lottery estimates that the chances of winning the game are one in 3,088,854. Forseth, who was homeless in 2017, is living the Cinderella story. “Being homeless just six years ago, I never thought it would happen to someone like me,” she said.

Never look back with regret. There have been some recent shifts in California:

Forseth stated that she intended to complete her associate’s degree this year and get married. Speaking on behalf of the California Lottery, Carolyn Becker remarked, “Hearing a success story like this demonstrates the positive impact our games have on winners and schools alike.”
