Casey White Was Facing Capital Murder Charges at the Time of His Escape

Alabama prisoner Casey White was given a life sentence on Thursday for breaking out of the Lauderdale County Detention Center last year.

In April 2022, Vicky White, a prison officer, helped White escape the prison. Investigators have stated that they think Vicky White and Casey White, who were unrelated, met at the jail and secretly fell in love.

After a high-speed chase, the duo was apprehended 11 days later in Evansville, Indiana. Vicky White passed away from what investigators believe to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound, and Casey White was brought into jail.

Rose confirms the tweet on its official Twitter account:

Casey White admits to fleeing, but he won’t be put on trial for Vicky White’s homicide.

In connection with Vicky White’s death, Casey White was charged with felony murder; but, as part of a plea agreement, he agreed to admit guilt to the lesser included offense of escape in May.

He told the court on Thursday during sentence that he feels like the most despised person in the world and that he loves Vicky White, the first person to show him affection in six years.

A trial is scheduled for August and Casey White is still charged with murder in connection with the death of Connie Ridgeway in 2015. He entered a not-guilty plea on the grounds of insanity. For proceedings connected to the murder case, he was being detained at the Lauderdale County jail.

According to the US Marshals Service, Casey White was already serving a 75-year prison term for a 2015 crime spree that included a house invasion, a carjacking, and a police pursuit.
