Dad Beaten to Death by Angry Mob

On Saturday, a father in Maryland lost his life trying to protect his kids from a playground brawl. Two adults and three teenagers contacted Christopher Michael Wright, 43, at his home on Friday at 5 p.m.; when Wright refused to let them talk with his fiancée’s son, Wright was assaulted.

The 14-year-old had gotten into a fight with another youngster at Brooklyn Park Middle School, and the two intended to continue fighting after school, but Wright forbade them from doing so. Tracy Karopchinsky, his fiancee, told 11 News that the suspects had switched their focus to Wright and threatened him, saying that if the youngster did not fight, they would.

Shortly after 5 p.m., Anne Arundel County Police officers, who had been called to the area due to reports of an assault, arrived to find county fire department workers treating Wright. Wright’s injuries were so severe that emergency personnel took him to a nearby trauma facility.

The below tweet verifies the news:

Wright died from his wounds around 9:45 p.m. on Saturday and was pronounced de@d there. Traumatic brain injury was listed as the cause of de@th on 11 News. Authorities have declared the de@th to be a homicide and appealed for witnesses to come forward.

Three or four White men, in their twenties or thirties, were described as suspects by police. No new information has been released, and no arrests have been made, according to the Anne Arundel County Police Department as of Wednesday.

Keeping up with the latest developments in the Golden State is made much simpler by the following links:

“Anyone who assisted, abetted, or was an accomplice of the main suspect or the primary suspect will be culpable,” Anne Arundel County Police spokesperson Marc Limansky told local reporters of the inquiry. Karopchinsky told 11 News that her son, who is 12, had tried to run out into the street to rescue Wright during the fight, but that he was “too late.”

The school had confirmed the fight to the news station. “Just looking at the damage, that wasn’t just punching that did that,” Karopchinsky said. “Like, there’s no way that punching did that. The damage was done before the ambulance ever took him away.” He’d had a seizure. It was done,” she added. “There was nothing the hospital could do.”
