A guy from Dayton was tried for stabbing and killing another man, but he was found not guilty.
At the time he was charged, Eric Bridges was 21 years old. According to records from the Montgomery County Common Pleas Court, he was found not guilty on three counts: two counts of murder and one count of felonious assault.
Bridges were charged with a second count of felony assault, but the judge threw out the case because the jury could not agree on a decision. After the loss, the charge was dropped by the office of the Montgomery County Prosecutor.
What Happened at 800 Block of Chelsea Avenue
Bridges was charged by a grand jury in August of last year for reportedly stabbing and killing Samuel Osborne, 40, of Springboro.
At about 8 p.m. on Sunday, August 14, Dayton police got several calls about a fight in the 800 block of Chelsea Avenue.
A request for public records led to the discovery of a 911 call in which the caller told dispatchers that “someone needs an ambulance now” and kept asking first responders to hurry up.
In another 911 call, a neighbor said, “All they can hear is screaming” coming from the house, and even though they can’t see what was going on, it sounds like someone is hurt.

When police arrived, they found one guy, later identified as Osborne, with a knife in his chest, said Major Brian Johns, who is in charge of the Dayton Police Department’s investigations unit. He was taken to a nearby hospital right away, where he died.
Bridges were there when the police arrived, so he was taken into custody.
A $1 million bond kept him in jail in Montgomery County.
Officers first thought that Osborne was at Bridge’s house to see his mother when a fight broke out that led to the killing.
