On Thursday, a Dayton woman was charged with causing a two-car accident in September 2022 that sent five people to the hospital, including a walker and a 3-month-old baby.
One count of severe vehicular assault, one count of putting children in danger, and five counts of driving while drunk were filed against Brandi Dennis.
One of the five charges linked to OVI was having a blood-alcohol level of 0.17 or higher, which is at least 0.9 over the legal limit. A test found that Dennis had 0.215 mg/dL of alcohol in his blood, which is 0.135 mg/dL over the legal limit.
Public records showed that three of the five OVI-related charges were for having marijuana metabolites or substances in the urine or blood.
A spokesman for the prosecutor’s office said that she also tested positive for fentanyl. But the court records did not say for sure that she was charged with driving while high on the illegal drug.
She got these charges because of a crash with more than one car that happened on September 10, 2022.
The report said that at about 5:40 p.m., the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office was called to the 3400 block of Salem Avenue because there had been a crash.

When the cops got there, they saw that two cars had crashed into each other and hit a person on the ground.
The pedestrian was a 61-year-old man from Dayton. The accident left him with major injuries, so he had to be taken to Kettering Health Dayton for more treatment.
The people in the two cars were also taken to hospitals in the area.
Dennis and a Dayton woman, 27, who was riding with her 3-month-old daughter, were taken to Kettering Health Dayton for minor injuries.
The 3-month-old baby also had minor injuries, so he or she was taken to Dayton Children’s Hospital.
The other driver, a 34-year-old woman from Trotwood, was also taken to Miami Valley Hospital with minor injuries.
The deputies gave the prosecutor’s office the results of their investigation, which showed that Dennis was likely driving under the influence of alcohol.
On May 11, she will be brought before the Montgomery County Common Pleas Court.
