On Saturday, at least three people were m*rdered and multiple more were injured after gunfire broke out at a motorcycle gathering in Red River, New Mexico. Mayor of Red River Linda Calhoun told CNN that five persons were hurt. According to the New Mexico State Police (You can check the below tweet), one of the injured was flown to a hospital in Denver via helicopter.

The mayor, as reported by CNN station KOAT, stated that all suspects in the incident were in police custody. There is “no ongoing threat to public safety,” officials added, and the location has been secured. State police chief Tim Johnson said at a press conference on Sunday that motorcycle gangs had been involved in a “confrontation of some sort” before the sh*oting occurred.
The three victims were identified as Anthony Silva, 26, of Los Lunas; Randy Sanchez, 46, of Albuquerque; and Damian Breaux, 46, of Socorro, in a news release published during the press conference. One suspect, identified as Jacob David Castillo, has been detained and is facing “an Open Count of M*rder,” per the statement.
He was sh*t and is currently in the hospital recovering from his wounds. According to the announcement, another of the injured was arrested and charged with cocaine possession. The individual was not the only one who was arr*sted for “Unlawful Carrying of a Firearm in a Liquor Establishment.”
Police say no charges will be filed against the other four injured victims. According to the authorities, the fatal sh*t occurred at the annual Red River Memorial Day Motorcycle Rally. According to the event’s website, some 28,000 motorcyclists descend upon the city during the Memorial Day weekend every year for the rally.
After the shooting, Police Chief Johnson stated that there would be a heightened police presence at the event. “There will be zero tolerance from this point forward,” he said. “That is traffic violations for one mile an hour over, seatbelt, jaywalking – we’re going to stop and talk to everyone if they violate any law, traffic or criminal.”

“Anybody who can be arr*sted will be arrested. This is not going to happen again this weekend. Because we’re not going to allow it,” Johnson said. “These gangbangers were lawless and what they are, are gangbangers who chose to have a three-day sleepover in New Mexico and not follow any of our laws,” he said.
“That’s not going to be tolerated for the rest of this weekend, or any Memorial Days moving forward.” According to state police, those who were hurt were sent to Holy Cross Hospital in Taos and University of New Mexico Health in Albuquerque, located roughly 170 miles south.
“The first officer was on scene within 30 seconds of the call going out,” said the mayor. “Additional NMSP officers have been sent to Red River,” said police in a tweet. Mayor Calhoun said late Saturday night that “in light of the active shooter incident that occurred this afternoon, we still have an active crime scene and ongoing investigation. No one will be allowed near the crime scene which includes most of Main Street.”
“State police, county sheriff department and our local law enforcement are requesting local businesses to remain closed Sunday, May 28th until they complete their investigation, and the crime scene is cleared,” said Calhoun.

According to an emergency declaration issued by Mayor Pascualito Maestas, the curfew in Taos, which is about 40 miles from Red River, went into effect immediately following the incident and will remain in effect until 4 a.m. local time on May 28.
In accordance with the rule, no stores, bars, or other businesses may sell alcoholic beverages during the curfew. aestas pleaded for everyone to “please be safe” and “send your prayers to Red River” on Facebook. The mayor assured CNN that no further curfews were planned.
