A 16-year-old is the Third Suspect in the Shooting Murders of Three Teenagers in Marion County

Deaths of 3 Teens in Marion County

According to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, 16-year-old Tahj Brewton was apprehended after being on the lam for nearly a week following his and two other minors’ alleged involvement in the killing of three teenagers discovered in the Ocklawaha area.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office, with assistance from the United States Marshals Service, was able to apprehend Brewton on Saturday in Groveland, where a $10,000 reward had been posted for his capture, according to a Facebook post that had been updated on Sunday and published by ClickOrlando.com.

The sheriff’s office stated the arrest was made due to active warrants for carjacking with a firearm, aggravated assault, grand theft of a motor vehicle, fleeing or attempting to elude a law enforcement officer, and tampering with an electronic monitoring device.

According to the post, more charges would be filed after the homicide investigation was completed. There were no other fresh details available right away.

Sheriff Billy Woods of Marion County, Indiana, made that promise during a press conference on Friday in which he announced the arrests of Robert Robinson, 17, and Christopher Atkins, 12, in connection with the killings.

“I’m talking to the viewers. You- some of you know him (Brewton), you know where he is and you need to turn him in. Now, I will get him, I will find him and justice will be completed, Woods said.

Woods claims that the incident featured members of a gang who turned against one another. “Although we had out there that it was gang-related, we have nothing specific to say that it was any rivalry,” Woods said.

“…However, each and every one of them in some shape or form is associated with a gang. Basically, simple terms, there is no honor among thieves, and at some point these three individuals turned on our three victims and murdered them.”

Woods claims that Robinson and Atkins used stolen weapons in the shooting, and that the two admitted to him that they had shot a girl in the trunk of a car that had been discovered half submerged in a pond.

The body of 16-year-old Layla Silvernail was discovered on the side of the road on March 30, hours before the body of a male juvenile with a gunshot wound was discovered in Silvernail’s Chevy Cruze on April 1.

According to their investigation, six people were in the Chevrolet when it was shot at: Robinson, Atkins, Brewton, and the three victims. Robinson was taken into custody by Ocala police the morning after the murder for an “affray” at school, he was already being held at a juvenile detention center.

Atkins was taken into jail on Thursday after police executed a search warrant on his home. First-degree murder charges have been filed against Robinson and Atkins.
