A man who used to work for the Division of Family and Children Services was arrested on charges that he hurt children he was responsible for.
On April 14, the Gordon County Sheriff’s Office asked the Georgia Bureau of Investigation to look into claims of child abuse against a former DFACs employee.
Officials said that there were claims that Roy Payne, who is 40 years old and lives in Calhoun, abused children in his care.

Payne was taken into custody and charged with one count of sodomy, three counts of child abuse, and three counts of child rape.
He was taken to the jail in Gordon County.
