As part of an investigation into the trafficking of fentanyl, the United States Department of Justice has filed charges against 28 members of the Sinaloa drug cartel in Mexico.
Attorney General Merrick Garland made the announcement on Friday that three of Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman’s kids are included in the list of individuals who have been charged. According to the Associated Press, these men are known as the Chapitos, which literally translates to “little Chapos,” and it is thought that they are a part of the most dangerous and vicious branch of the cartel.
Chemical suppliers, lab managers, those involved in the trafficking of fentanyl, security chiefs, financiers, and people involved in the trafficking of guns were also charged.
