Female Passenger Arrested After Attacking 3 Sky Harbor Airport TSA Agents

Early Tuesday morning, Phoenix police arrested a woman traveler after officials say she attacked and hurt three TSA workers during a security check.

The agency told The Arizona Republic that the passenger attacked staff at Checkpoint D in Terminal 4 at 5:55 a.m., which caused the checkpoint to be closed temporarily while Phoenix police officers arrested her. Two of the three officers were hurt and taken to the hospital, where they were treated and then let go.

In a written statement, the agency said, “This unprovoked and brazen physical attack on our employees is not acceptable.” “We’re thankful for our hardworking employees and the part they play in keeping travelers safe every day. Unfortunately, because of what this traveler did, three of our TSA officers got hurt, and about 450 other travelers had to go to a nearby checkpoint for security screening, which was inconvenient.”

The tweet below confirms the news:

As of Tuesday night, it was not clear what charges the woman traveler might face or if she was still in police arrest. The woman was named by police as 19-year-old Makiah Coleman, and they said she was taken to jail without any trouble.

The Transportation Security Administration said that threatening staff or hurting them physically or verbally can lead to criminal charges and fines of up to $13,910.
