Neil Gaiman Disappointed by Good Omens Season 2 Leaks

The first season of Good Omens, which was based on the novel by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett, followed the unexpected alliance between the angel Aziraphale (Michael Sheen) and the demon Crowley (David Tennant), who work together to stop the end of the world. The 2019 season was well received, and there will soon be a new one.

However, there is a twist in the second season: the novel was completely adapted in the first, so the creators had to come up with something new. Gaiman claims that before Pratchett’s death in 2015, the two authors discussed and brainstormed an unfinished sequel. No one knows what to expect from the next second season as Gaiman incorporates these ideas.

At least, not until an official Amazon promotion offered a major prize. Below, we’ll discuss it but be warned that there may be SPOILERS.

A Leak of Good Omens Season 2 Content Ruined the Premiere

Clearly intended for release after the July debut of the second season of Good Omens, the leaked footage revealed a crucial plot point. Since he is actively participating in the WGA strike, Gaiman has not been exposed to as many levels of promotion as normal, even though he has been hands-on with several television adaptations of his work, such as American Gods and Sandman.

Whether or not Gaiman was involved in the marketing strategy, he believes this omission may have been made.

Gaiman also addressed the polarization among Good Omens fans after the clip was released on Tumblr. The writer added, “I would greatly prefer that the leaked stuff goes away,” yet he did show some understanding for the fans who kept on spreading the leaked scene. Gaiman warned fans from attacking each other or labeling the leak’s sources “jerks,” but he also acknowledged their enthusiasm.

Pandora’s box had been unlocked, and now Gaiman’s only hope of stopping the leak was for his supporters to utilize spoiler tags properly. Despite his best efforts to calm the Good Omens audience, many online have argued passionately about the morality of disseminating the stolen material.

The 1990 book Good Omens by Gaiman and the late Terry Pratchett was rediscovered by a new audience in 2019 because to Amazon’s adaptation of the book. Fans have been begging for more of Aziraphale and Crowley’s narrative since the show’s first season aired four years ago. Michael Sheen and David Tennant of “Doctor Who” play a demon and an angel in an odd love.

Gaiman weighed in on this too, saying that he’s “fucking furious” about the leak on Twitter and further commenting on his blog:

I’ve heard what’s happened and I’m heartbroken that there are leaks, and that they happened like this. If you want to remain GO2 unspoiled I’d strongly suggest avoiding any places or tags that leaks happen or just staying far away from the internet until July 28th.

On July 28, the privileged and the people may watch the launch of Season 2 of Good Omens on Amazon Prime Video.
