Investigators said they found JJ’s body wrapped in duct tape. They also found a piece of hair on a piece of duct tape during their search.
Keeley Coleman, a DNA analyst who works for Bode Technology, a private lab that helps the police, said in her statement on Monday that the hair sample came from Vallow Daybell. Coleman was sent a sample of hair, which he then checked for the police.
Coleman said that the hair sample was checked against the DNA of Vallow Daybell, Tylee Ryan, and Melanie Gibb, who used to be a friend of Vallow Daybell.
Coleman said that most of the DNA samples they test in criminal cases are only part of a full profile. When evidence gets old, it usually leaves behind only a partial sample, which is missing part of the DNA makeup.
In her statement last week, Idaho State Police Forensic Biologist Katherine Dace said that she took a hair sample from the duct tape that was on JJ’s body and sent it to a lab.
