After admitting to running an online group that spread child pornography, a man from Huber Heights will spend many years in prison.
The Department of Justice says that 22-year-old Matthew Sharp was given a 10-year prison sentence for giving out child pornography. Sharp was also given 15 years of probation and told to sign up as a sex offender.
According to court documents, an undercover police officer got in touch with Sharp in October 2020 through an online group where people could trade and watch child pornography.

About 400 people joined the group between October 1, 2020, and November 17, 2020. Sharp started the group and was in charge of asking new members to “verify.”
Sharp sent the undercover officer a message on October 1 asking him to “verify” that he either had access to a child or child pornography.
Sharp told the officer that he wanted a “live photo” of a child or pornographic material.
On January 7, 2021, federal agents took Sharp’s digital devices and found evidence of child pornography. Sharp also said that he was in charge of the group and that other members gave him pictures that he then sent to other people.
On September 8, 2022, Sharp said he was guilty.
