Husband Murdered in Road Rage Shooting

A 40-year-old man was shot and killed on an Ohio interstate, according to cops.

At 5:35 p.m. on Wednesday, May 17, a shooting took place on Interstate 76 in Norton, which is near Akron.

According to news stories, George Jensen’s wife said that he was shot as he was going home from work.

Officers from Norton were called to the interstate because of a one-car crash. When they got there, they found Jensen had been shot multiple times, police said. He was taken to an Akron hospital, where he later died.

Allison Jensen, who is married to George Jensen, told the Akron Beacon Journal that the family didn’t find out about the shooting until 10 p.m.

“No one gave us any information for hours,” she told the newspaper. “… What’s going on in Norton? Let’s go. He had his ID on him. He was taken to the hospital to get help. They could have sent a person to tell the rest of his family.”

Witnesses told police that Jensen was the victim of road rage when a driver in a Camaro shot him several times.

Police say that the driver of the Camaro was last seen going east on the highway.

Allison Jensen told WEWS, “There’s someone on the run.” “There are also a lot of problems with the way people think when they act so carelessly as if they can decide who lives and who dies just because they have a device that can shoot bullets in their pocket.”

A coworker told the Beacon Journal that two nurses tried to help Jensen before the ambulance arrived, but they lost his pulse when the ambulance came.

Jensen’s wife told WJW that he was a “really special guy” who was “extremely sweet” and “really caring.”

His father told WOIO that his son was “adamantly against gun violence,” but that the shooting didn’t surprise them because it “happens almost every day.”

“We all sort of knew,” George Jensen Sr. told WOIO. “We just knew it wasn’t good news. It was a blue Mazda we had heard on Facebook, so we knew it was him and sure enough, we got the bad news together. I’m glad we were all there together.”

If you know anything about what happened, call the Norton police at 330-706-0084.
