Quinton Tellis was indicted for Jessica Chambers Death in February of 2016. He had a record of breaking and entering, narcotics possession, and evading the law. In 2015, he was arrested for the murder of Meing-Chen Hsiao, whose credit cards he was using after her death.
Jessica Chambers Death
At 8:10 p.m. on December 6, 2014, Jessica Chambers, then 19 years old, was discovered ablaze next to her burning automobile.
Her entire body was a burn victim. She had been doused in flammable liquid and had had it poured up her nose and down her throat. She passed away at dawn the following day as a result of her wounds.
After the incident, Jessica’s car keys were discovered on the side of the road close to the crime scene. Authorities looked through her phone to piece together where she was on the day she was killed.
Evidently, she had spent the morning in the company of two pals, as established by the authorities. Soon after, she went to her mom’s house in Lisa for a nap. After getting a text later in the day, she decided to go.
She told Lisa that after she had some food and cleaned out her car, she was heading out. She traveled to a petrol station 1.5 miles from where her body was discovered around 5:30 p.m. At this point, she was last seen alive.
Using her phone’s location services, we can see that she left Courtland for nearby Batesville at around 6 o’clock but returned there at around 6:30 p.m. Why she was in Batesville remains a mystery. She called Lisa about fifteen minutes later when the latter had also observed an eerie silence. She left her house at 7:30 pm and drove to the location where she would be discovered half an hour later.
The case is still unsolved since authorities have not found any suspects.

Quinton Tellis Will Not Face Trial In Jessica Chambers Death Case
The Louisiana case against Quinton Tellis, who was tried twice for the 2014 murder of Jessica Chambers, has been dropped. Tellis is currently behind bars in Mississippi for burglary.
The Chambers Trial Has Ended In A Mistrial
In both 2017 and 2018, the juries were unable to reach a unanimous verdict. As the second Chambers trial ended in a mistrial, Tellis was extradited back to Louisiana to face charges related to the stabbing death of Ming-Chen Hsiao in 2015. In 2016, Tellis admitted to fraudulently using Hsiao’s debit card, for which she received a 10-year sentence for being a repeat offender.
On the evening of December 6, 2014, 19-year-old Chambers was discovered walking along the side of a road that was completely ablaze. The hospital in Memphis where she was staying was the site of her death the next day.
Death Charges Against Hsiao Were Dropped
After learning that the State of Mississippi wanted Tellis to serve the five-year sentence for crimes related to Chambers’ death, Judge Larry Jefferson of the Fourth Judicial District Court dismissed the indictment against Tellis in early November.

After his conviction in Mississippi, Tellis’ fate will be decided by the Second Circuit Court of Appeals.
