Kaylin Gillis’s Memorial Draws Hundreds After She Was Shot in the Wrong Driveway

Kaylin Gillis, 20, of Schuylerville, was killed on April 15 at 10 p.m. when Kevin Monahan, 65, allegedly shot at her friend’s car after the group accidentally pulled up to his home in Hebron.

After that, Monahan was caught and charged with second-degree murder.

People lined up in front of the Flynn Bros, Inc. Funeral Home in Schuylerville to pay their respects to Gillis.

Her family talked about how she was a “kind, beautiful soul” in a number of moving tributes all week.

The tweet below verifies the news:

“This wasn’t fair to my beautiful baby. She had a lot to live for and a lot of things she wanted to do.” Her heartbroken mother, Angelique Gillis, wrote on Tuesday on Facebook, “She was the light of our lives.”

Gillis’s father, Andrew, said that she was “a ray of light to anyone who was lucky enough to know her.”

“She was just starting to figure out how to get along in the world by being kind, funny, and loving.” Kaylin was a good artist, a straight-A student, a huge Disney fan, and an animal lover. “She was looking forward to going to college in Florida to become a marine biologist, which was her dream,” her saddened father said.
