LAPD Shoots and Kills Man in Downtown Los Angeles During Car Chase

Police say that after a car chase in downtown Los Angeles early Friday morning, officers with the Los Angeles Police Department shot and killed a man.

A Police Department news statement says that at around 1 a.m., officers saw a man with a gun near Manchester Avenue and Hoover Street. The man hit a white Mercedes-Benz with a woman and two other people in it, and the police followed the car.

Police say the car went north on the 110 Freeway, then went east on the 10 Freeway, and got off at Maple Avenue and 16th Street. Two people got out of the car and ran away. When a man jumped out of the car, the police ran after him.

He ran under a bridge and pulled out a gun; cops shot and killed him, the release said. He was taken to the hospital, where he was declared dead. The other two people in the car haven’t been found yet.

Because of what happened, a cop got a cut on his hand. A gun was found at the scene and turned to the police.
