Man dies after being shot in Short North (1)

On Sunday morning, a guy who had been wounded in the Short North died at OSU Hospital; a week prior, ten individuals had been sh*t in the same neighborhood. According to ABC 6, at around 2:30 a.m., sh*ts were fired in the 900 block of North High Street as a result of an altercation.

Officers came to find a guy suffering from gunshot wounds; he was later identified as 21-year-old Arthur Pickens. Pickens was sent to the hospital, but he didn’t make it.

There are currently no suspects in police custody. ABC 6’s Myles Harris said that the tape that blocked off multiple blocks for several hours has been removed. The incident on Sunday took place before Mother’s Day celebrations were about to begin at bars and restaurants.

Multiple sh*otings in the Short North last weekend left nearly a dozen people wounded. In response to the violence, authorities have promised further safety measures this next weekend.

Columbus Police Commander Mark Denner stated, “We did have officers working in this area” (around the time of the incident). “The police were conveniently located.”
