A guy has been detained in connection with the de@th of a lady who went missing from her west Texas house on Thursday. Her body was discovered on Saturday. On May 11th, authorities were notified that Madeline Pantoja, age 20.
When authorities checked in on her Midland residence to see if she had returned, they found her keys, phone, and vehicle still there. Ms. Pantoja’s body was discovered on Saturday in a remote location outside the municipal boundaries, following an investigation by the Midland Police Department and other law enforcement authorities.
It’s located three miles east of the intersection of County Roads 190 and 116. Mario Juan Chacon Jr., 24, was arr*sted hours after Ms. Pantoja’s body was found and is being held on m*rder charges. He is being jailed without bond in the Midland County Jail on a charge of first-degree m*rder.
Ms. Pantoja’s de@th is suspected to be a homicide, though police have not confirmed this. Ms. Pantoja went out with friends in Midland on May 10 but was not seen again until after 11 p.m. The next day, her loved ones reported her m!ssing when they were unable to get in touch with her.
A recent ex-boyfriend was suspected by her friends, who spoke to the police. According to Ms. Pantoja’s neighbors, a man and a woman could be heard arguing inside the house the night she vanished. It is unclear from the police report whether or not Mr. Chacon Jr. was previously involved with Ms.
The disappearance of the young woman prompted a massive search effort including numerous law enforcement agencies and aerial drones. About a hundred people demonstrated outside the Midland Police offices on Thursday, purportedly because Ms. Pantoja’s family members were unhappy with the pace of the search.

They demanded “justice” because of the “lack of investigation,” as reported by KTSM. On Friday, Midland Mayor Lori Blong said that the law enforcement agencies looking for Ms. Pantoja were working “tirelessly in searching and in gathering information and evidence” as to her location.
To help raise money for a reward for his sister’s disappearance, a guy purporting to be Christian Pantoja, Ms. Pantoja’s older brother, created a GoFundMe page. About $27,000 had been donated by Sunday.
