Two toddlers were discovered dead inside a Duxbury home on Tuesday night. According to prosecutors, their mother will be charged with their murders. A third kid suffered critical injuries and is still in the hospital.
Tim Cruz, the district attorney for Plymouth County, announced on Wednesday that Lindsay Clancy, 32, has a warrant out for her arrest.
Just after 6 o’clock on Tuesday, police were called to the Summer Street residence. When the children’s father arrived home, he was the one to find his wife and learn that she had made an attempt on her own life. She was taken to a medical centre.
Police discovered Cora Clancy, 5, and Dawson Clancy, 3, inside the house with “clear evidence of severe trauma” after they were allegedly strangled. Despite being sent to a nearby hospital right away, they passed away.
An unconscious 7-month-old boy was also discovered. He’s still in the hospital after being flown by MedFlight to a facility in Boston.
Investigators are considering the possibility that Lindsay Clancy experienced postpartum psychosis, sources told the WBZ-TV I-Team. She was not working as a nurse at Massachusetts General Hospital since she was on leave.
Clancy is still in the hospital while being held by the police, and she will be charged as soon as she can.
The town manager of Duxbury, René Read, stated that “our community is obviously in shock” as a result of last night’s horrific events.
Flowers left outside Clancy’s house on Wednesday are a modest expression of the pain that the neighbourhood, including John Sullivan’s neighbour, is experiencing. Everyone is in a state of shock, it is awful, and the entire neighbourhood is still processing everything, according to Sullivan.
According to local clergyman Rev. Bill Ferguson of the Pilgrim Church, the neighbourhood is looking for ways to lend a hand. “Good day. especially when kids are present. We simply don’t know, as it is the unknown, why this occurred, but whether mental health difficulties were some of the contributing factors, “added Ferguson.
First responders who came to the house are also in mourning after discovering a situation that has saddened them and left them in need of their own help.
Robert Reardon, chief of Duxbury Fire Department, said, “To everybody that responded, know that we care about you. “Please reach out if you or a fellow employee needs support.”
It’s a difficult tournament, Cruz added. We should all congratulate them for their efforts and keep praying for the family since, in my opinion, being a police officer or a first responder has never been more difficult.
Massachusetts General Hospital’s spokeswoman issued the following statement on Wednesday: “When we hear of this unimaginable tragedy, we are both horrified and grieved. To everyone impacted by these tragic events, we send our sincere condolences.”
