Please Help: Mother Pleads as Search for Lost Son Continues Off Castle Island

As crews continue to look for her lost 4-year-old son in the water off Castle Island on Monday, the boy’s distraught mother is asking the public for help.

Mohemed Fofena, who is from South Boston, has been missing since Sunday night. On Castle Island and in the water around it, police have been looking for him very hard.

The Massachusetts State Police, Massachusetts Environmental Police, Boston firemen, Boston police, Boston emergency medical services, and the Coast Guard searched a large area until late at night, but they couldn’t find the child.

The tweet below verifies the news:

MSP told Boston 25 News that Mohemed was playing with an adult family member at a park on Castle Island in South Boston on Sunday evening. Around 7 p.m., the cousin could no longer see Mohemed. Around 7:30 p.m., they called 911 because they couldn’t find the little boy.

Mohemed’s mother said that when he went missing, he was with his grandpa and sister. She also saw that her son spoke.

“Help me, please. I need Mohemed if someone has it. “Please help me,” the boy’s mother begged in tears. “He has autism and doesn’t speak. Please, please.”

Mohemed’s grandfather said that the park was busy and that they didn’t know where they were.

MSP police came to the scene and searched the area. The search was then helped by a number of other agencies and groups on land, in the air, and on the water.

Mohemed is black, and the last time anyone saw him, he had on a gray sweatshirt with a hood, blue pants, and blue shoes.

If you see Mohemed or know anything about him, you should call 911 right away.

After stopping the search at 1 a.m. Monday, police stayed at the spot all night.

On Monday morning, the search began again.
